Sri Ramakrishna Centenary Primary School

     The School was started in the year 1936, the birth centenary year of Bhagawan Sri Ramakrishna, to meet the educational needs of the poorer children of the locality. It has classes from I to V standards in Tamil medium.

     Students Strength : 74 boys and 36 girls are studying at present in the school.

     Staff: The school has a Headmistress and 3 teachers apart from 2 ayahs.

     Extra Curricular Activities : Apart from covering the regular syllabus, the school encourages a lively programme of extracurricular activities. These consist of reciting slokams, bhajans, dance and drama acting, computer operation and drawing and others.

     The students are given mid-day meals under noon-meal scheme. They also get free books and uniforms. The Students Home distributes the following materials free to the boys and girls: ID cards, shoes, uniform, notebooks, milk etc.

     One latest touch screen all-in-one computer was added to the existing 5 Multimedia PCs for training the Primary School students.

     Our school has provided open air play activities to make the children physically strong and mentally happy. It has see-saws, ABC ladders, slides, swings, merry-go-round etc.

     Tree saplings were planted in the school campus. They are regularly maintained by the students and are coming up well.

     The school celebrated birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and Swami Ramakrishnananda and National Festivals like Independence Day, Republic Day, Teachers day, children’s day etc with cultural programmes.

     The 76th school annual day was celebrated on 23-02-2012. Sri S.Natesan, Exnora Environmental Research Institute, Karanodai, Chennai-67, presided over the function and distributed prizes to the children. The cultural programme given by the students was well appreciated by the audience. Our students also participated in a cultural programme on Home Day. They also presented a cultural programme on 175th birth anniversary celebration of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna, at Sri Ramakrishna Math, Mylapore, which was also well appreciated.
